Poor Management to Customers

"On April 8, 2018, I purchased 2 milk weed plants and 1 zebra grass. When I received the plants they were out of their dirt and on their last legs. I contacted American Meadows several times to tell them the plants were substandard and to credit my card. Emails went unanswered even though I requested a confirmation. Then I spoke to Maureen (customer service rep) and she said the credit would be within 72 hours. Nothing! Contacted them again and they said up to 13 business days. To date, NOTHING credited back to my card. They guarantee plants but do they? I will contact my credit card company and dispute this charge. Enough already!!! It's not so much the money but the principal of the whole thing. I will put a negative review on my FB page. Have you gotten my message yet, American Meadows?"

If you want Dirt

"I ordered 14 plants. One box arrived and all 3 plants were out of their pots and possibly dead. I called, they scheduled me for replacement plants. 2 wks later, I received an email, the order was delayed, due to snow storms. HUH? The snow storm had already passed. In the mean time, the second box with plants arrived and basically the same thing happened. Most of the plants were willy nilly in the box and dirt everywhere. I called again, the gal I spoke to this time, had a heavy accent, told me they were not in the business of selling plants, they sold roots and intentionally pinch the stems. Again, HUH??? and she refused to replace the bad plants. I took pictures each time. I put under grow light and some of the plants seemed to snap out of the abuse, but they look like crap in the garden. I have great soil and chances are I will lose all of them. I bought from a company from up north, as I knew the plants would survive KS winters. Just a bad experience that I won't repeat, and won't recommend."

No Beauty This Year!

"I ordered the Northeast Wildflower mix for a couple years now. This year was TERRIBLE! Where I expected to see those beautiful flowers I got mostly weeds. :( I prepped the soil and put a bag of nice soil beforehand too. I don't think I'll be using them again. They must have done something different to the mix. "

"I've placed several orders with American Meadows since discovering them earlier this year, primarily for fall-planted bulbs and wildflower seeds. The prices are excellent, especially if you shop items on sale. My orders always arrive promptly according to the zone I live in, and the bulbs all look very healthy. Fall bulb planting in my zone starts in early September, so I was very pleased with my most recent order a week into September when I received my purchase less than a week after placing the order. The site has great information about everything it sells, and there are many gardening guides that I find very helpful. The flower seeds I purchased germination tested at 99%! I also recently emailed the company about receiving spring bulbs earlier than my zone would normally have them shipped and received a very prompt, courteous, and informational response. I have been very happy with this company so far and after a few negative experiences with other companies, American Meadows is fast becoming my only source of flower bulbs and seeds.
